Our Foster & Adoption ministry exists to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children, taking a holistic approach that considers the whole family.

We do this through a variety of initiatives:

  • Our Foster & Adoption Ministry Resource Center 
  • Care Communities for foster families
  • Meeting the needs of vulnerable families through CarePortal
  • Providing support to organizations serving vulnerable children
  • Equipping and supporting families interested in or currently serving vulnerable children through foster care and adoption

There are a variety of ways you can use your gifts and passions to join us in making a difference:

CARE COMMUNITIES

Nationally, 50% of foster families quit after their first year or first placement. Many of those families attribute a lack of support as the reason for their departure. A Care Community comes alongside a foster family and offers emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial support. This team of volunteers rallies around the foster family on a weekly basis providing anything from prayer to running errands to providing meals to helping with childcare. With the addition of Care Communities, 90% of foster families retain their position within the foster care system.

HANDYMAN TEAM

The Handyman Team offers a unique opportunity to serve foster families through general handy-work repairs. Examples include landscaping, gutter repair, painting, fence repair, light plumbing repairs, etc. We're looking for individuals with a variety of skills! Professional experience is not a requirement, and the serving commitment is flexible.

CAREPORTAL

CarePortal is an innovative online platform that connects churches with vulnerable families in need. We support families in the Indianapolis area by delivering items from our Resource Center including beds, car seats, and diapers. You can become a CarePortal delivery driver, dropping off items and making a relational connection with these families.

*Resource Center – The Foster & Adoption Ministry Resource Center, located at our Northwest campus, provides an immediate physical and financial relief for foster and adoptive families while they care for vulnerable kids. You can serve in the Resource Center by helping to organize/process inventory, fill requests for families, and connect with families during item pickup.

*Foster Agency Liaison – We not only support foster and adoptive families, but also support child welfare workers working in a variety of government and private organizations across the city. You can encourage, appreciate, and support those who are working tirelessly each day to help vulnerable children and families. Foster agency liaisons serve at an agency location once a month, helping to organize, clean, bring in treats or gifts, and assist with whatever needs they have.
